We are collecting stories from helping professionals to really understand the current crisis of burn out, attrition, and retention within our local helping industries. These stories come from interviews that have been recorded and transcribed from helpers across industries, education, healthcare & social services predominantly, in the St. Louis metropolitan area. We are examining the collection for themes and patterns that really tell us more about the fundamental and unmet needs of those who care for, guide, teach, heal and nurture us.

We are locating and learning from the "bright spots" out there, the organizations who are innovating in big and small ways resulting in better outcomes, for both their employees/ providers and those their mission serves. Why reinvent the wheel?! We want to spread the word about new models, processes, culture, and outcomes that are proving to be more effective and efficient so that it’s easier for organizations to evolve and replicate success.

In collaboration with local artists, we will share the stories and themes that emerge from our project through various artistic mediums for the public to hear, see, feel and interact with. Storytelling through art is the great heart and mind opener! It has proven itself in every culture across humanity’s existence, captivating our senses, leading us into emotional resonance, helping us see the world through a completely different lens. Across history, art has given voice to the voiceless, it has been the vessel for transforming our perspectives and inspiring innovation. We deeply believe nothing fosters connection the way a compelling story and work of art can, and solving this urgent crisis is going to take all of us finding our way back to each other.

It is said that "a rising tide lifts all ships", so if the people who care for, guide, and teach us, are in turn, cared for, well-resourced and empowered, what could be possible for all of us?
